Short Songs For The Girl I Want To Meet [EP] by Sursis [2010]

Sursis . Short Songs For The Girl I Want To Meet . OB/W10-025

1. There's A Girl
2. I Hope You're Not Fooling Me
3. Seven O'Clock
4. Solo Mi e Ti
5. A Perfect Night (With You)

--

This is the new EP from Larry Barin’s project.

Larry is Lauro Zanin, he used to play the guitar in the Barins.
Barins had to split up just because of Larry’s age. He was 13 years old and no pub landlords in Brighton wanted him to stay in their premises...

Anyway, after Barins split up, Larry began composing and recording on his own.

This EP is totally different from everything he had recorded so far, here you find Sursis at his most indiepop moments!
So if you dig Beat Happening, Modern Lovers, Pastels, Violent Femmes, Vaselines, well, you need to check this out!

Snow Day [LP] by Transmittens [2010]

Transmittens . Snow Day . OB/W10-023

1. Snow Day
2. Like Me
3. Color The Sky
4. Go With You
5. Find Me
6. I Saw You Walking
7. Tiger
8. Beside The Sea

--

Two sweeties who put their feet in Lawrence, Kansas and starting filling it with their special brand of tinny-beated, moog-enhanced pocket pop. Danny and Jen don’t like to play live, but everyone else loves it.

The above lines are all you're gonna find about them in a quick search on the Internet.
Well, if you understand Portuguese there's an article here: amplificasound.blogspot.com.

Beautiful pop songs, good lyrics, all very lo-fi and at the same time well-finished, and twee. Yeah, Transmittens!

They've been releasing their wonderful music via the also wonderful WeePOP! recs from London.
This time they're here with us instead!

And if now you're waiting for moog and casio sounds from them, well, think twice!

This album is all guitars, acoustic and electric, yeah perfect jingle jangle guitars.
I mean, the effective/distinctive drum machine is still there, so are the beautiful delicate vocals, but you can't hear any keyboard at all!
And there's some live drumming as well! And by drumming I mean Moe Tucker style, just so you get the idea.
Think of Softies, Jesus and Mary Chain, Beat Happening and Magnetic Fields, you're half-way there.

O Bosque / Woodland proudly presents Snow Day, the new album by Transmittens.
Enjoy, color the sky!

Reports - Sales and Payments

I sell physical records via bandcamp, friendly DIY distros/shops/stores and sometimes with a stand on public events.
But I have only a few albums available as a physical record. I mostly trade digital now.

For digital releases, I work with bandcamp and Zimbalam or Routenote.
They all are not free services, you have to pay to sell your album on their platforms and/or iTunes, Amazon, emusic etc.

I don't pay anything to upload an album onto Bandcamp and Routenote, but every time someone buys something from OB/W, they charge me. Bandcamp: 15% per transaction (and also PayPal charges me 5% + $0.30, that's per transaction). Routenote: 15%.
Every OB/W release via Zimbalam costs me an up front fee of £29.99 for the distribution of each release.

Below the statements Bandcamp, Zimbalam and Routenote made available (until june 2017):
- Bandcamp: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ia8w8db1mq8z5c9/O-Bosque-%252F-Woodland-recordings_sales_2017-08-17.pdf?dl=0
- Zimbalam: https://www.dropbox.com/s/tud6hgd7pjl0ls9/RoyaltiesExport_cesaraugustozanin20170817.pdf?dl=0
- Routenote: https://www.dropbox.com/s/zgt55lilje8z7fs/RNSales_ALLsales_bosquewoodland.pdf?dl=0

Here's OB/W's report on payments to the artists (up to the first semester of 2017): https://www.dropbox.com/s/z9c1iscuqwtafvh/bosquewoodland-2017-payments.pdf?dl=0

1. Sever All Your Ties
2. It Seems Alrigh
3. I Already Know
4. Overdue Books
5. Other People's Records
6. Race to the Raft

--

The Argyle Wishlist is a reverb-loving Indie Pop band based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The group began in 2004 as the solo project of Jesse Bell (former songwriter and guitarist of the Michigan garage-pop combo "The Keen") but after a dozen various releases has grown to a three piece including Zach Butler on bass and Tim Raymond on drums.

The band draws heavily on 60’s pop and British Invasion influences, along with strong elements of 90's Indie Pop, to create more modern, two minute gems.

O Bosque / Woodland proudly presents Quite Happy, Thank You, the new EP album by The Argyle Wishlist.
Enjoy, it's a wonderful record, really.

14. You're Gonna Lose It Again
15. This Time When I Open My Eyes

--

This is the second full album by Sursis, Larry Barin’s project.
And this album, just like the previous one, is made of songs precariously recorded only.

Larry Barin is Lauro Zanin, he used to play in the Barins.
Barins had to split up just because of Larry’s age. He was 13 years old and no pub landlords in Brighton wanted him to stay on their premises, so Barins wasn’t able to perform, even if Walden Barin, another member of the group, was Larry’s father!

Anyway, after Barins split up, Larry began composing and recording.
All the songs here were recorded at home by himself, some of them with a little help from Walden.

The idea of a sampler release came to me when I started to receive messages from blogs wanting records from me for reviewing.

As this label is really DIY, that is with very limited resources, I absolutely can't send out many records for free, that's why OB/W's promotion unfortunately is almost inexistent...
With a sampler this problem can be, if not resolved, at least minimized.

And now everybody can enjoy another compilation as well.

Sampler, the album, compiles all OB/W's trajectory up to now. It includes even songs from upcoming releases, and a bonus track, previously unreleased (and probably never to be properly released, hehe).

So when you're gonna read a review about O Bosque / Woodland, it will probably talk about this album here.

No internet for me for a while...

Yeah, I am moving home again.
As from the 17th May I will be without internet connection for about 3 weeks, unfortunately. That's what it seemingly will take them to transfer it to my new home...
I will try to reply important messages using the iPhone anyway.
Take care you all.
Cheers, ciao!

Woodland European Tour 2010 was conceived during Zanin's Magic Crayon North American Tour 2009. The idea is basically unite a road trip to a musical tour, avidly questing - both musically and more, and strictly following a DIY ethos.
Zanin's Magic Crayon and In Cases will play all the shows of the tour. The Argyle Wishlist will participate from the 23rd to the 28th July.
http://www.myspace.com/bosquewoodland
bosquewoodland@googlemail.com

Brazilian indiepop pioneers Magic Crayon's frontman, Cesar Zanin, was invited to play in the USA in 2009 and in order to concretize a road trip of a lifetime, combined it to a 13-date tour; creating a project mixing in a pocket way indiepop, electronica, bossa, kraut, dub and shoegaze. http://www.myspace.com/zaninsmc

In Cases is a band formed in Brighton and Hove, UK, by 3 friends (ex Barins, that lofi freethinking emigrants group) from different countries (Slovakia, Brazil and Italy), in 2009. They make experimental-pop music.
http://www.myspace.com/incases

The Argyle Wishlist is a reverb-loving Indie Pop band based in Wisconsin, USA. The group began in 2004 as the solo project of Jesse Bell but after a dozen various releases has grown to a three piece.

Barin is a real Italian surname and every member of the group had a fictitious (but inspired) name combined. The major influences on the sound of this Brighton and Hove based group are The Fall, Modern Lovers, Beat Happening, Ramones, Guided by Voices, Velvet Underground, Cramps, Modest Mouse, Animal Collective and Pin Ups.
